Age of the Princes, about us
I began as a re-enactor and over the years at various events, many people, especially teachers have praised my presentation and have asked me to bring my display to their school. Due to work commitments, it wasn't always possible, now it is.
My initial interest was longbow archery and performing at numerous historical sites I realised I knew next to nothing about their history, Welsh history. I read whatever I could find from Sharon Penman (a fan of this site!) to J.Beverly Smith. I am lucky enough to have met many historians who were very generous with their help, Charles Evans Gunther (Llywelyn Fawr to Glyndwr), Katherine Pritchard Gibson (Abergwyngregyn), Brian Davies (Owain Lawgoch), to name but a few.
My wife and several of my friends are teachers. Their help and advice have also been invaluable.
Throughout my re-enactment career I have strived for accuracy and authenticity, essential when talking about such an important subject.
One aspect that is very important to me is making various authentic gear using traditional materials and methods (living archaeology?) - particularly the highly specialist field of formed leatherwork and period sword sheaths. I hope it will add to viewers' perception of me as more than someone who just "dresses up."

'For me the most important thing is to light a spark of interest in our past.
If a tourist looks at a castle and can see more than a crumbling ruin
or a school boy more than knights in shining armour then I've done my job.'
