Meet the Minister.

AotP was in Conwy Castle on 17th March,
meeting Alun Ffred Jones, Culture
and Heritage Minister.
It was all part of the official launch of a major new project about the Princes of Gwynedd.

Ysgol Bodhyfryd, Wrexham
The world of the Celts was brought to life for over 70, Years 3 and 4 pupils in Ysgol Bodhyfryd

Dressed as a Celtic Chieftan, I recieved a very warm welcome at the school in Wrexham. Many of the pupils had made a real effort to dress for the occassion too. We supplied costumes too for those who needed them. The pupils were split into groups throughout the first part of the day to do various activities, which included an archery talk, a hands on talk about the Celts and the school provided facepainting too. After lunch we brought them together to learn about how the Celts developed and changed through to the medieval period. The pupils gained an understatnding of how a timeline works. The feed back from all concerned was tremendous and we look forward to a return visit next year
Age of the Princes at Wrexham Histories Festival

The crowds flocked to this event and it was none stop for Ian, Charles and myself. We gave demonstrations and talks throughout Friday which were very well recieved. Our authentic 'stand' featured a vast range of artifacts from longbows to grindstones.  Children were grinding corn, having a go at drop spindle or handling swords all day. The questions came thick and fast from people of all ages. I explained to someone over 70, how a rush light was made and used and dispelled myths such as Vikings having horned helmets to a 4 year old. Later in the day, I managed to catch up with archaeologist Julian Richards and he gave me some very possitive feedback about what AotP was doing.
Saturday was even busier. Met lots of old friends too. I didn't actually stop talking long enough to have a drink and food until 3 in the afternoon! I would like to say a big thank you to Karen Harris at Northern Marches Cymru, excellent event. If anyone has any photos of AotP at the event please get in touch.

As you can see from these images,
I was filmed as an archer, leading the attack. Another very enjoyable day, thanks to Mark Williams,
